Playroom Inspiration is here! This is the very first installment of our house tour!
It’s not perfect, or done, BUT HERE IT IS!
The playroom is the perfect hangout for the 0-6ish crowd and we have a lot of fun in here. It’s great for playdates (come on over!) and really good for getting wiggles out when it’s rainy or crazy outside. It’s also just a couple steps down from the school room so it’s a handy spot for Oaks to play nearby while the bigger kiddos crank out some work. We’ve really been loving this space.
Y’all wanted links… here they are!
RUG | So thick and cozy, even though we haven’t gotten a rug pad yet. This is one of the most-asked about things in our house. Y’all love this rug! And so do we!
SWING | Such a cute addition to a playroom, kids’ bedroom, school room — really any room! Who doesn’t like to swing? I’ve been sipping my coffee in this swing and swinging A to sleep lately and I am not hating it. Be sure to get THIS & THIS to help hang it, too.
STACKABLE STORAGE | Cheaper alternative HERE (bust out the spray paint!)
PLAY KITCHEN | Cheaper alternative HERE, HERE, or HERE. (Love play kitchens!)
PLAY TABLE (discontinued) | Cute and affordable alternatives HERE and HERE.
STACKABLE STARS | I went with natural materials and as minimalist as I could in here so that we’re not constantly cleaning up a bunch of colorful plastic crap. Ya feel me, mamas? Plus I’ve found that less clutter = way more creative kids! So these are one of the only small toys in this space right now.
COUCH | Super cozy, and adds some height to an otherwise miniature, kiddo world. I like having a couch in the playroom so I can chill and be cozy while I’m waiting to get my energy in the mornings! And to change a diaper or set a baby down while I play with a toddler. Handy dandy.
ABSTRACT ART | I fell in love with this piece the moment I saw it. Tip: Always go way bigger than you think you should with wall art.
PLANT | Live plants on Amazon… I am still impressed!
PLANTER (discontinued) | OBSESSEDDDDD with THIS one. I have it in my kitchen and I’m literally going to buy a couple more and pop them around the house because I just can’t with it, and it goes with the moon vibes happening in here.
Pretend there’s not a giant chunk of shiplap missing from that wall. It’s fiiiiiiiine, everything is fiiiiiine.
PENDANT LIGHT | I love this big ol light. So much.
SCONCES | I can’t find them, but I love THESE if you want something similar! And budget friendly!
MOON MURAL | This mural is another thing I had to have the moment I saw it. It is just so magical for a play space!
PLAY COOKWARE | Love this metal set. It also comes with veggies! They velcro together and can be cut and put back into one piece, and Oaks loves them.
PLAY FRUIT + KNIFE SET | Melissa & Doug, you never fail us. These are just like the veggies from the other set, so they all go together perfectly and cut the same way. Oaks brings me fake food and forces me to eat it all day long 🙂
PIKLER TRIANGLE | This thing is so cool and the kids LOVE. IT. They use it so many ways. Nolan put a blanket over it to make a tent and slept under it the other night. Whatever floats your boat, bro!
XL ROCKER | This can be used tons of different ways too (several shown in this post). We chose the earthy tones for the slats and I’m in love. You can also connect it to the Pikler Triangle with the little slide/climber piece. It’s amazing how creative kiddos are with a minimalist, interactive space. They truly do not need a lot of stuff! Now how to tell their Grammy this 😉
You can use the code MADISONVINING10 for 10% off both!
WOODEN HANGING RACK | People use these in their house to hang coffee mugs all the time, which is so cute! It can also be used to hang jackets, or I’ve seen a few people use it to hang posters with little wooden poster hangers and that’s super cute too. We use it here to hang the kiddos’ pots and pans. I’ll add a cute little play apron or two at some point. Maybe a chef’s hat? Why not.
WOODEN RAINBOW | I can’t find the exact one we have, but HERE is an alternative that’s also cheaper. Win!
Everyone’s always asking about the shade of white we used throughout the house. I finally found out for you guys!!! It is “SIMPLY WHITE” by Benjamin Moore.
Review: I would choose it again. Of course we’ll always be touching it up with so many kids (WHO LOVE TO PUT THEIR HANDS ON THE WALLS, WHYYYYYYY) but I’d still choose it again. All the natural light bouncing everywhere makes my heart happy!
A safe, clean, and happy place to play is such a gift to kiddos, even if it’s nothing fancy! I’ve been wanting to put together a creative little spot like this for them for so long. I’m glad we finally did it!
If anyone is looking to revamp the play space in their home for Christmas or just because, I hope these links help a little! Picking this all out was so, so fun.
