I had a political discussion last year with a frie

I had a political discussion last year with a friend I really admire, and she said something that has stuck with me:

“There’s believers on both sides, and there’s people being used by the enemy on both sides. The enemy is not on this side or that side. He’s not on “our side” or “their side.” He is on the side of division and hurting people. And God isn’t only on one side or the other of this situation involving His children. He’s on the side of unity and love and bringing dark things to light.”

I had a big heart check in that moment.

Humbling.

When two believers disagree, and both think their side is right and true, it can get confusing and frustrating quickly. It is easy to see ourselves and our view as the “light” and the other side as the “darkness” when we are CONVINCED we are on the right side of something.

But WE are not the darkness or the light, and THEY (the other believers) are not the darkness or the light. Satan is the darkness. And JESUS is the light. And Jesus is on the side of bringing dark things to light.

We can be used to bring darkness to light. We are called to unaffiliate with darkness in every way and expose it (Eph 5:11), and be salt + light. But we are sinners, and so are “they.” The only unadulterated light is Jesus.

On each side there is probably some truth. But on each side there are sinners who ultimately just need to point toward THE Truth (capital T truth).

“They” are not the enemy. Satan is.
“We” are not the truth. Jesus is.

It’s a messy thing to navigate trying to be like Jesus when others who are also trying to be like Jesus are opposing you. I feel like we’ve all been there in the last few years, and I know it will ramp up and intensify as we get closer to His return.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph 6:12

A reminder for myself as much as anyone today.

The darker and more desperate the darkness gets, the easier it gets to spot the light. Things to remember as you navigate this crazy world 🙃

🎉 Today is a good one! We are headed to get a baby goatie + some more piggies. Tyler is not coming with me. And Story is. 😬😂 So who knows what we will come home with!

We are also welcoming a huge unexpected influx of people into our mentorship group today.

We are expecting a crazy ice storm and Ty isn’t

We are expecting a crazy ice storm and Ty isn’t feeling great. I shared last night that it gave me anxiety thinking of caring for 100+ animals just me and the kids in below freezing temps with potential power outages and all the things.

It turns out, I have really needed a day like today. No expectation of work, just doing the most important things. Dishes, cleaning, laundry, unboxing stuff, hauling trash out, encouraging kids, lingering for snuggles, bringing in firewood, checking on @tylervining, filling diffusers, dishing out supplements, etc. No to-do list, just being here.

Thank you Jesus, for always knowing exactly what I need.

Don’t let the government-owned media outlets convince you the world is all hate and division. It isn’t. Go outside. Smile at people. Hug your loved ones. The world is beautiful and the love within you is powerful. It starts with us. Actually, it starts with Jesus and then pours out of us. We don’t have to accept fear, hatred, shame, and division — those are language the enemy speaks. And he’s shaking in his boots knowing how powerful our love is.

I shared those thoughts in my stories yesterday, but wanted them to live here also. Love you guys ♥️
